I am going to reply to both of your posts. 1) A 3DS XL could retail for $189 or $199. The bigger size is an easily understood reasoning for a higher price over the standard model and it's still below the crucial $200 mark. Consumers will see why they have to pay more and it doesn't interfere with Nintendo's plans to stop losing money on each hardware sale. 2) Smartphones and tablets are not direct competition to the 3DS. 3) It gives consumers a choice. A good choice, might I add. Therefore a 3DS XL is not a bad idea and should be launched as soon as possible. 4) A Nintendo system must be designed in a way that fits the software that is played on it. The current 3DS is barely sufficient to do NSMB2 justice, so a revision is not only recommended, but almost required. |
Good points. A lot of older people loved the DS XL and thought the 3DS was a step down from it due to smaller screen.
For me, as much as I love my 3DS, I thought there were a few design flaws. Battery life, floppy hinge, not-so-great start and select buttons. I also think we need a second circle pad.
So I think it would be a great option for the older crowd, as well as the hard-core crowd that may want a larger, more hardcore screen and a second circle pad to rock out to the likes of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.
