*edit* Oh, I have HotD: OVerkill and No More Heroes 1 and 2 (and the PS3 version of NMH 1.) I don't know about you but I think those games are some ol' bullshit! I just buy NMH for the hot chicks! |
I see the Nintendo fanboys still run this site. That wouldn't be the case if the Wii had sold below the other consoles, and that will be how the Wii U sells--below the Wii's numbers.
You should note how sad it is that you needed to dig deep into the "top 100" games on the Wii and DS, where on any other system, you'd only need to look at the Top 25 to see a wider variety. Hell, you have to get all the way down to number 10 to see a third party game, and even then, it's just a casual dance title (followed by it's sequel). The top 9 are either "Wii" or something with Mario in them. Typical close-minded Nintendo fan lunacy (and casual audience lack of expansion into other genres). The next games, 12 to 20 are once again, the same unevolved typical Nintendo trite, except for another Just Dance and Zumba.
Scrolling down the "top 100" Wii list, we don't see the first hardcore, third party game until Epic Mickey at number 36. No wonder you had to dig through a top 100 list desperate to find "evidence" that Nintendo fans have the ability to support something different, something original, something made for gamers AND by a 3rd party company.
NINTENDO FANS DO NOT SUPPORT 3RD PARTY GAMES. They haven't since the 64, and they didn't when Nintendo tried something "new" with the Wii, and they certainly didn't when Nintendo played as "just one of the boys" with the GameCube, which was arguably the most hardcore-focused console they ever made.
The DS fares slightly better, but still shows the exact same nonsense: Nintendo fans do not support 3rd party games as the first hardcore 3rd party game is Dragon Quest IX way down at number 14 (and even this is a cheat since Nintendo published it, technically making it a Nintendo title in this regard). Outside of that and Lego Star Wars (which skirts the line of hardcore-casual with it's friendly, overly simple, predictable, and easy gameplay), there isn't another hardcore 3rd party game until number 33--and that's Sonic Rush, a predictable franchise guaranteed to sell on any NIntendo system.
Kudos on trying to prove a point, but you had to dig deeeeeeep into the outer reaches of the top hundred for both lists to desperately attempt to prove that Nintendo fans buy 3rd party games, or hardcore games, for that matter. They don't. The priorities are as follows:
1) Anything friendly from Nintendo
2) Anything with Mario, Link, or Pokemon
3) Anything else from Nintendo
4) Nintendo-like 3rd party games/Casual games
5) Rare exceptions to 3rd party games
6) Hardcore third party games
You look at any other console, and you'll only need to look at the top 25 to see a number of 3rd party games. The top 25 games on the Xbox 360 feature games from Microsoft, Take-Two, Activison, EA, Ubisoft, and Bethesda.
On the PS3, the top 25 games include Activision, Sony, EA, Konami, Square-Enix, Ubisoft, and Capcom.
Now, if Nintendo fans are really so enlightened or open-minded, they why aren't they capable of supporting 3rd party games? Call of Duty should be as high selling on a Nintendo platform as on the Xbox360 and PS3, but it isn't. Because Nintendo fans buy games fundamentally differently--that is to say--if it's 3rd party, they tend not to care. And the sales back this up.
Otherwise you wouldn't have had to stretch your list to the "top 100 best selling" desperate to prove a point. Sony and Microsoft fans both appear to have the ability to support their favorite core franchises as well as 3rd party games.
