Just from the theater. It was great, my personal best of 2012 so far (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is pretty close second best). Everything was great. The theater was full (I with my friend were lucky enough to get the last seats on the back). And yeah, it shares a lot of DNA with Alien, even considering it's a standalone film. Only bad thing is that it was a regular release, all the IMAX screens were occupied by MIB 3 (which is also a fine flick) with only one Prometheus showing at midnight. I really hope that soon at least one IMAX screen will show it at the appropriate time - then I will re-watch it there, I think it pretty much worth it.

I don't know if Prometheus will become a new classic (I hope so), but only time will show it, as for any other movie. Anyway, it was a goddamn solid film at very least. The only thing that holds this movie from being even greater - it's technically an Alien side-prequel, so it lacks some freshness and unexpectedness, but at the same time it IS a great advantage of Prometheus. It IS a right sci-fi. I loved every freakin' second of it.

P.S.: Dat Guy Pearce.

P.P.S.: Film currently holds 85% at RT, which is great (as I said above - there is a room for criticism about originality and fresh ideas and maybe some other minor flaws) and 63 Metascore. More critics will give their opinions after American premiere. Anyway, it's safe to say now, that movie is already well-received. I'm sure it will do appropriate money at the box-office as well! ;)

didn't know it was open to the public already..

was the story set up in a such a way as to make a (Ridley Scott directed) sequel likely?
