The Xbox brand lost Microsoft over 9 billions dollars before it started to turn a profit a couple years ago. I'd say that the 360, without the original Xbox factored in, has pretty much broken even.

i think kowenki has a thread with some of te info but i am pretty sure that the 360 has been a money maker. Not barely broken even but generating some good profit. I could be wrong will see if i can find the thread.

The Xbox division* lost somewhere in the region of $4 billion... the X360 R&D and initial hardware loss meant a $1.3 billion loss in the first year, then further hardware losses plus the RROD thing meant a further $2 billion loss... I suspect the X360 then also lost about $3.5 billion, but turned it around so they have been profiting for the last 4 years... I haven't checked for the most recent fiscal stuff for MS but that division will be somewhere between -$3 billion and -$4 billion in the red.... which means if you take the XB out of the equation the X360 is between break even and $1 billion profit.

*As mentioned earlier this is not solely for the XB brand, but I think it does constitute most of it.

I would consider 1 billon in profit good profit. Wish i could find that thread. But i had no luck.

Not up to date though:
