Never knew that. Explains things a little.

I've never played a Fire Emblem game before, but from what I'm seeing, this new game's sucess is due to the production values, right?

It looks much more polished than previous games, from a non-fan perspective. The character design also looks top-notch.

While Nintendo is pushing Awakening more than previous entries (both in production values and advertising), I would say the success of this new game also has to do with the DLC model. The people who usually sell back their games to stores don't do so, because there's still more content coming, so there are less used copies in circulation which forces other gamers to buy new. The game is also more newb friendly with options to disable permanent deaths as well as a The Sacred Stones structure that allows grinding.

So there are several factors contributing to this game's legs. We'll see if it manages to get past 500k lifetime.

You're probably right... again!

Well, if this success influences Nintendo as a whole I don't know if it's going to be good or bad. Ah, doesn't matter, DLC is innevitable.
