Considering the RROD fiasco. Its well on the range of my own prediction.

it does not say that. All it says is that at retail (meaning sold in a store not dlc or through ms directly) they have made 56b in sales of probably anything xbox related.

 

Edit: I wonder what percentage of live gold subscribers pay ms directly and what percent buy cards online or in stores. Now all we need is some DLC info.

Yeah, exactly. We should find out how this "at retail" was figured out.

Is it shipped; is it sold?
Is it purely retail, or is it also online purchases?
Is it discounted, or is it full priced?
What products are they counting?
