 Today's game to hype:

Announced during last years EA press conference, Overstrikes pre-rendered trailer shows that the game is going to be a very fun and action-packed adventure... however, it has been a year since then and we still haven't seen what the game actually looks like. Hopefully Insomniac has been hard at work the past year and are able to show us a demo, or perhaps just some footage during EA's conference this year. The concept is promising, so lets just hope the game can actually live up to it.

"Set in the near-future, Overstrike follows a team of four elite agents (Overstrike 9) obliterating enemy strongholds using fringe-tech gadgets and lethal teamwork.  Overstrike 9 is comprised of a reformed mercenary, a lifelong mischievous thief, a gifted but rebellious young scientist and a decorated detective…with a bit of a temper.  Collectively, they’re the misfits – the black sheep their own agency tries to ignore.  But a shadowy organization threatens to wipe out humankind.  Thanks to each agent’s unique talents and a tendency to completely ignore protocol – Overstrike 9 is the only option left.  Overstrike blends developer Insomniac Games’ flair for exotic weaponry and immersive storytelling with a touch of humor."

i wonder if this hasn't become vapourware

there was absolute no follow up news to the E3 trailer, no screenshots, no gameplay, nothing to generate any hype for the game. Especially since Insomniac seems to focus all its efforts on another game right now.

there was also another game announced last E3 that looked quite similar gameplay wise:  Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, and it has lately been rumored to have been quitely dropped.

maybe they were not received well enough at E3, i hardly heard anyone being hyped for them.

T_T Yeah, you might be right... which would suck because it could end up being a fantastic game. It was quite strange in the first place to have a pre-rendered trailer and not any gameplay to show. That's acceptable for something like Halo 4, because we know how Halo games play. Though with a new IP they should really have something to show from the get-go.

makes me wonder if it had generated more hype and interest if it had stayed a Sony exclusive... or god forbid, have been announced as Xbox eclusive

...thinking about it, as it was obviously a co-op game, it would be interesting to see a game that allows to play coop between a Vita and PS3 version, that would eliminate the split screen.

that would also be a great feature for Wii-U games offline coop or vs. One player uses the conroller with the screen, and the other plays on the TV with a classic controller or a nunchuck.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
