I hope you have never touched a Sim's Life game then! While the game might look bland it actually gets better the more you play (it better since being Nook's slave isn't that much fun). You will get the same typical responses from your animals most of the times but if you keep pestering them or helping them out then they will reward you with some pretty crazy comments. I remember one animal telling me he found some nacho cheese chips behind his couch and a few other crazy comments. Anyways, you should at least give it a try this time.
