The most generous response I can think of is that they tired of the constant dismissal and criticism from third parties and the media, and took that to heart over and above what the consuming public thought. Alternatively, perhaps they somehow figured that their fears of a retracting market via growing disinterest were incorrect, so moves to battle disinterest/expand the market were unnecessary.
Less generous response: they got tired of making stuff that isn't focused on traditional gaming.
Least generous response: casualz r stoopid.
