The only people who have ever called me a nerd for playing video games were the young teenagers who I've played online multiplayer games against (such as Halo).
Of all people, it's the ones who are playing the games who say it. I think it's in effort to try to raise themselves above that "nerd!" bar by calling out others as nerds.
