Advance Wars, because I irrationally prefer modern/sci-fi settings over historical, and because I don't feel attachment to my units.

Beating a campaign mission in AW feels amazing, much more satisfaction than anything else I've done in gaming except the 120th star in SM64.

Also I don't think I would have bought the game I have sunk the most time into, Starcraft II, without playing AW and gaining appreciation for strategy games. It's a shame competitive AW is nonexistant.

AW's music is much better, Tsujiyoko and Hirano did a much better job on Paper Mario and AW than FE's soundtrack.
