It will be somewhat close, but no.

Because of the difference in launch dates, PS3 was able to catch up and pass the Wii due to the 8th and 9th month of PS3 sales being in Nov/Dec 07, versus the 8th/9th month for the Wii being July/Aug. With only Feb and Mar to go for the PS3, its sales won't be as robust as the holiday sales. Meanwhile, the equivalent sales are Oct and Nov for the Wii as it was ramping up for its 2007 holiday sales.

In terms of raw numbers, PS3 needs to go from a bit over 3.5M to 4.3M in 7 weeks. Over 100k a week, while it is just now finding its post-holiday low in sales at half that (53k). Close, but no cigar.

Still, very good for a console costing as much as it has. It will be fascinating to see how it goes on from here. One trend, though, I admit only 2 weeks old, is that both PS3 and X360 are finally flatting out. The Wii in 2 weeks is double from its post-holiday low, 62K to 120K.

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.
