Sorry I didn't answer you before.  Yes, I would have loved to have seen those games come out.  A Starfox, F-Zero, Waverace, and 1080 Snowboarding (balance board compatible) would have been great too.

A major problem that I had was that you had stuff like the Wii Sports games that showed of the motion controls and then Nintendo hardly used them at all.  It was a huge lost oppotunity.  Instead we got 3rd party games making clones and screwing it up.

In that case I think we can agree on what was missing. As you say there were several categories of 1st party software: There were casual motion games, core games that were sequels to Nintendo franchises from GC and N64, and finally there were revivals of franchises from NES and SNES.

These were mostly entirely different beasts, even when occasionally motion controls were shoehorned in (exceptions: MP3, SS, 3rd party: GoldeEye, SIlent Hill). What we needed was more diverse content from Nintendo built around motion controls, and appealing not just to the lowest common denominator. Something that would prove to the fans (as well as third parties) that motion wasn't just a gimmick during Wii's early years.

The funny thing is there were a few lower profile games that tried to do this (and some of them did it quite well IMO) but NoA never released them! I'm talking about Zangeki no Reginleiv and Disaster: Day of Crisis. Pandora's Tower would also qualify if it was released earlier in the consoles life cycle.

The biggest vote of confidence would have been a reinvention of a loved franchise or two based on the benefits of motion control. Frankly I don't think Prime 3 cut it because it was too similar to the GC games and becuase it wasn't big enough as a seller. The only game that did this was Skyward Sword which came out far too late to start any new trends..

Maybe Nintendo will fix this with Wii U.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
