Reviews release before the movie opens. You knew that, right? Avengers was certainly hyped but no more than any other major summer blockbuster.

FYI, The Avengers actually opened in slightly fewer theatres than Deathly Hallows and... The Dark Knight. It actually opened in fewer theatres than Iron Man 2. But I guess since it was so hyped, they didn't need to actually put it in as many theatres.

*brain implodes from contradictory statement*

You can ask anyone that knows a bit about how a movie performs, and they will tell you that reviews aren't important when it comes to the opening week-end. They are relevant in the legs/holds of a movie.

How should I know why it didn't open in more theaters? FYI the tickets were already sold out days before the movie or the reviews came out.

Your argument holds no water. You're claiming that it was this monster movie but Marvel Studios and Disney didn't even bother to put it in the most theatres. The Avengers doesn't even have the highest opening day gross, that goes to Deathly Hallows Pt 2. The Avengers' strength is that it just keeps going. It had a record-breaking second weekend as well.

So the second film of the Twilight saga wasn't the most anticipated movie ever? Well, maybe the shitty first movie deterred a few folks. Still, it's strongly in the top ten of opening day numbers, as are all those terrible movies.

You want The Avengers to be the most hyped movie of all time but you have zero evidence to prove it as such. Every summer, there are movies just as hyped as The Avengers, you just have failed to see it for some reason. Wait. I see your'e 17. How on earth would you know how hyped past movies have been? You've been paying attention for what, 3-4 years?

Or do you honestly believe that Avatar was not as widely hyped as The Avengers? Because reality has a different take on the situation.
