The final game in Microsoft’s Arcade NEXT program, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, has been selling like hot cakes. According to a press release from Microsoft, it’s officially passed the 1 million units sold mark. This comes less than a week after breaking Trials Evolution’s day-one XBLA sales record.

Notch, Minecraft’s original creator:

“Uhhhh, Microsoft just sent out a press release saying Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold a million copies in five days. Wow.”

Wow indeed. I think it’s safe to say that Microsoft made a wise decision bringing Minecraft onto the Xbox 360, amidst the many clones that already populated the download service. Nothing beats the original, especially with that four player split screen (provided you have an HD TV).

The Minecraft train keeps rolling and there’s no clear indication that it’s stopping anytime soon.
