I am glad that rocketpig enjoyed the movie because after a few convos with him I have learner to appreciate how he few movies ( most of the time;) . People who are knocking this movie are lying to themselves. Doing the regular Internet thing. Knocking great movies. Was the story great? It got the job done and I enjoyed it. The characters and action was what got the job done! Shit! Even some of the writing was good, I laughed multiple times as did the entire theater!

I am glad that Thor is not a total superman like character or the whole movie would be lame like all the superman movies other than the first. The captain played his role brilliantly I thought! Plus no offence rocket pig but I never read comics. Still loved this movie and understood all the characters and what was going on. Its nice to have a movie that you can just jump into and know what the deal is.

Some of you are naming some lame ass superhero movies just to piss people off.

The great thing about the movie is that anyone can enjoy it. My gf loved it but only has a passing interest in comics. Her friends enjoyed it and they have no interest in comics at all. On top of that, comic fans, real comic fans, have almost unanimously raved about the movie because Whedon got it so right. The movie is just a shitload of fun. I haven't seen an audience that into a movie in years. I couldn't even hear a lot of the dialogue because people were cheering and laughing so much.

Btw, Thor isn't close to a Superman character. He's not even as strong as the Hulk, though control of lightning and Mjolnir come close to evening it out. Powers-wise, Whedon got every character pretty much perfect, though Iron Man may have been just slightly overpowered.
