Let's not expect too much from Nintendo. They have proven that they don't know how to do business. If they can get out a redesign by August, then that's good enough by current standards.

No, I think that's unprecedent in the industry, even the dumbest of decisions on redesigns aren't announced two months before release. I mean, they're not bright, but they're not monkeys! Leaks don't count, but Nintendo is very good with leaks, so if the redesign is for E3, which is probable, it'll be released on June, no doubt about it! But Wii U will be the star, so 3DS lite only announced 2 weeks before NSMB2 releases, imo.

The DS Lite launched in Japan in late February/early March 2006 and it took until June until it was released worldwide. So that's that.

Considering the Circle Pad Pro incident, a redesign must be underway, so the only question is how soon will it release. An announcement two weeks before NSMB2 releases isn't out of the question, because at the end of July Nintendo will post their financial results for the first quarter.

Regardless of how Nintendo is going to handle it, an August launch would be the best way to go about it, thus building momentum for the holiday season.

Honestly, I doubt there will be a redesign until after monster hunter 4 drops. Currently Capcom is making a boat load off of those hunks and there's probably a deal where Nintendo won't redeisgn until after MH4 so that Capcom can rape the consumers, and THEN nitendo will redesign :D.
