Now if you read carefully, you will come across the statement that ps3 is the most used console and infact the most reliable. Touchwood, my PS3 is still alive and kicking butt.  My statements are based on that article's link above . The trend has been like that for a while. If that keeps up, sales are surely going to go upwards even in Japan. Look at the Japanese figures of 360. It's a joke already.  MS has tarnished their presence there(figures prove). The same thing is to carry over the nextbox, if they do not strategise things well. A free online service and an optional PS plus membership across EU, Japan and US are enough for the console to keep up the current trend. 360 is only limiting it's users with paid membership and with a limited hardware.  LOL at the 99 $ deal. It started with RROD in the first phase and with a mandatory online payment what-so-ever the deal is. A reason why hardcore gamers are moving on to PS3 lately and 360 going down to the broader audience's choice who likes to KINECT. The discussions about online 360 subscribers in US and its cheap comparison to multiple fake PSN accounts have been on the rise. I would say that the numbers are infact steadily increasing and would only continue to double or triple the 360's over due time globally because of that multiple account provision. 360 needs to prove itself or perhaps the MS gimmicks really need to prove/work in its favour not just in US, but across all regions equally. Counting refurbished consoles in the shipments is lame. MS is only focussing on the shipment numbers IMO and holiday season.

How did you get that from the article? It states that the 44% (PS3) weekly usage compared to the 40%  (360) usage is based off a survey in which they provide no data on. The sample size, where/how it was conducted, etc...  It does link to the company that they state conducted the survey, but not a link to the actual survey or survey process itself. There is also no mention of reliability.

They state that PS3 is more popular with the core audience, while the Xbox appeals to a greater overall audience. The article also states that the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 last year and it is also project to sell 13.8 million compared to 13 million PS3s. It contains nothing that supports your claims. The information it supplys actually refutes your claims. Are you sure you are not basing your opinions off the comment section of the article. Some of the stuff posted there...
