Indeed it is, and I would obviously blame the developers for that. For instance, Super Mario 3D Land introduced lots of events where the 3D effects actually added to the gameplay. Games like Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 7 or Super Monkey Ball, on the other hand, ignored the possibilities completely. That is understandable to some extend given how not everyone can see the 3D images but that's a minority, and I don't see too many colorblind people complain about how several minigames in Mario Party requires color recognition. The entire games are not supposed to be based on 3D features, after all. Just a few sequences to justify its existence. And if they are optional then that's even better.
