He wasn't talking about background downloads or a multitasking OS but simply the length of time it takes to download a game on Wii U because they are bigger than games on 3DS.

Why must you scrutinize every facet of his talks to a degree that you miss the forest looking at the trees?

I'd put it down to the fact that Nintendo says so little about the Wii U, that we're taking comments not directed at gamers or developers and interpreting them through that lens, when they're directed at investors, who likely don't care about what precisely the OS is capable of doing.

Very valid point.  It's all about the context.
