Graphics help tell the story or give the game charm, they should not be the focus of the experience, but merely a pleasant cherry on top of an already good game; doubly so when it comes to Mario. We already know the story, we already understand the gameplay, there's absolutely no reason in the world to complain about perfectly charming graphics just because the game isn't utilizing the full power of the system it's on. That doesn't mean you can get away with the bare minimum, but a game like mario has always been about solid platforming and level design, no mario game (with the plausible exception of super Mario RPG) has ever been about stretching the boundaries of its respective hardware. Frankly, if I'm going to complain about anything regarding New Super Mario Brothers 2, it's going to be about what I expect to be a shortage on levels. given the inevitably huge sales this game will get, it wouldn't kill them to take the time to add more levels, it'll still make a monstrous profit. Graphics whores bother me. |
I think happyD's main concern is about the actual art style. If you've played the three original games on the NES; noticed how the graphics evolved? That's what all this is about. Those three games are on the same system - NSMB2 is for a TOTALLY new system, and therefore the visuals should change, and not for the worse....
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
