They may have said that they'd go for a win at a later date, however I remember way back in 2008 Alan Greenburg said that they were going to come in 2nd place, that was when they did their $80/50 price cut and extended the lead for about a year.

On the other hand... Coming in with first place for the generation in hand would likely require them to nearly double their LTD sales to 120M-130M. I don't think there is a plausable way for them to double the sales unless they either come in with a ridiculously cheap Arcade model OR release an Xbox 360 plus say based on one of the two chips on the Xbox 720 and delay that back to 2014, OR both.
