I cannot add any more hate for this game than the AVGN did in his review, so I'd just say, check his review out for it. Closer to the now period? I'd say Age of Empires 3 (Heck, I felt more of the Age of Empires vibe from the series spinoff, Age of Mythology, than I did this game) and Skyward Sword (I got through the first dungeon and didn't find the motivation to go any further. To date, this is the first Zelda game I've played since I started with the original back in 1990, that the 'don't feel like it' thing has hit me). I put Ocarina of Time in the same category as Final Fantasy 7 and Super Mario 64. By that I mean, my favourites were earlier titles in the series because of their depth and gameplay (Link to the Past, FF6 and Mario 3 respectively), but since it was their first portrayal into 3D, I gave them a pass for it. don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're bad, I'm just saying they felt like a part-step backwards in terms of gameplay and substance when compared to some earlier titles in the series. |
My #1 favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy VI.
my #3 favorite game of all time is Link to the Past
And Mario Brothers 3 and Super MArio World are tied for somewhere inside my top 10. so I totally know how you feel. That said, I adored Final Fantasy VII (it's like, #6 on my all time list), and I Feel that the only aspect of it that hasn't aged well are the graphics, and those are hit or miss. some are hideous, some are gorgeous. I don't give Ocarina the same love becuase I felt it was a decrease in quality. I felt that 3D actually made Zelda a touch less appealing becuase of the level design and the fact that the controls were clunky.
