i remember a report i saw last week or so. there was the village or city "husavik" which is specialized in whale watching. so there are for sure people who work in that tourism on boats and so on in husavik. they have a whale museum there as well. http://www.whalemuseum.is/museum/ i would say this is for tourists as well.
