I did some googling and found an article from 2009 about it. There's a limit for each region so the 6k limit should be for America only. It also says that once you reach that limit you'll get every penny back, but if you fail you're screwed.

I guess the limit was introduced to get rid of cheap, unwanted products...

Which is a full year before Beamdog STARTED the process to get MDK2 on WiiWare.  Thus, they went into something and either (a) misunderstood the market (which has been admitted) or (b) didn't do the research or both (which is my guess).

I also agree with jlrx that this seems like a PR studnt. After all, Beamdog is really a small player in the software distribution over the web (akin to a mini Steam) than a full developer.

What I see here are bad business decisions and a lack of tact by Beamdog. I also see an outdated and outmoded game service by Nintendo -- but one which Beamdog should have known about going in.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
