Third parties don't respect the Nintendo audience, so somehow there needs to be put in a stop to the neverending wave of low quality games. If companies know that they need to move 6k units before seeing a single cent, then at least the worst of the worst will refrain from flooding the system with trash. In other words, third parties have to blame other third parties who tried to abuse the Nintendo audience. Regardless, let's not pretend that 6,000 is a huge number, a lofty goal, a miracle etc.; it should be stupidly easy to reach for a quality title that gets a little bit of exposure on the internet. |
Respecting their audience? You mean by putting out stuff that has a track record of selling on the system? In other words MORE casual game and Just Dance stuff? Yes, respect the audience. Do NOT try to do a FPS, or release an older title that got good ratings, but hasn't shown to be able to sell. If you want to speak on quality, it is up to you to show that MDK2 sucked and is a poor title. Do NOT speculate but show ratings on it. If you can't, you are blowing smoke here. If MDK2 is a decent title, but sold poorly, you can stuff your quality title argument.
Guess what, it got an 80% rating on Gamerankings.com:

To bash MDK2 by saying it sucked, so it should of did better (aka, only BAD titles don't make the threshold) is a bunch of BS that should stop. Ball is in your court here. Show it sucks or stop bringing up the "quality title" argument in reference to MDK2 or say that is the reason why threshold is not met.
