I don't get why some people get so upset over 3D Mario games. I mean, Mario Galaxy sold like what, 10 million? I know most devs would be ecstatic if their games sold a fraction of that.
Sure 2D Mario sells more, but that doesn't mean 3D Mario's somehow bad. Besides, it's not like Nintendo didn't make NSMB or NSMBW, or isn't making a 2D Mario for both WiiU and 3DS.
