being limited also forces you  to try new ways and new things, so it can boost creativity too as much as not being limited can boost lazyness. I say more than hand on hand it should be a balance, and that balance was kind of rupted this gen. So a little jump in graphics and most of time dedicated to gamplay should bring next gen to a good balance again.

I doubt that is how the developers view it. Their goal is to create good games, not be lazy because they are putting all their time and money into a game that happens to have more power. If that was true then wouldn't we see games with new amazing concepts on less powerful systems and the same things over again on more powerful ones? I think if you were to actually evaluate the concepts in modern games you'd find it favors capability freedom over forced improvisation.

I doubt it too, and that is  a shame, yet we have seen a lot of good concepts on wii,ds and psp, but  they are not the only options tough and the hd twins offers a profitable option too i would say even more in some cases.PSN,xblive and eshop also offers excellent and unique concepts too without pushing a lot the hardware. I agree with the last sentence, the thing is, like i said before, i dont really trust them to take full advantage of that giving their performance this gen. Im not expecting a GC-WII jump, a little more sure, but without going overboard.

I don't think power has really ever stifled creativity or quality of games. If anything ever generation has created better games than in the past. Over time people tend to forget about how many crappy games there were. And even the good ones, back then we easily forgave bad level design or gameplay mechanics because there just wasn't anything to really compare them to and developers were limited by the hardware they were using. Go back a gen or two and play some games, yes there are classics that will be for the most part timeless, but for every one of those games there are dozens of unkown titles that are just completly terrible. Not just by todays standards either, back then they sucked as well but developers could get away with that kind of stuff.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
