For almost everything except gaming, I agree, buts it great to see they recognizes that and are changing

in my opinion they recognized it at least 4 years too late... you just can't suddenly get brand power back.. losing it is much easier but I don't see Apple or Samsung slipping up the next 5 years..

those companies don't have to slip up, and Sony doesn't have to be market leader either

make a profitable buisness based on innovative products and software is more than enough

..Making innovative products and software isn't enough anymore...  it's also about brand power and consumer trust.. they need to win back a lot of customers who went to Apple, Samsung and every other tech company besides Sony... heck if Apple made something like the Sony Dash it would have sold much better.. just because it was made by Apple in the eyes of the consumer.. So yes the others need to slip up for Sony having a chance to catch up in Brand power.. I think Sony will make nice products in the next few years but I don't think people will buy them but only time will tell...

I highly disagree, while brand power does give you massive sales and marketshare, there is nothing saying a device sold within it's parameters can't be successful

case in point http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/News/20554/sony_storms_charts_xperia.aspx doesn't stand a chance in hell of outselling an iphone or galaxy but is still successful. Remember times have changed in EVERY way, Sony might not be market leader today but todays market is so vastly bigger than the market Sony led that they don't have to, think this generation instead of last generation
