Most of the NES/SNES RPGs weren't available in German or just came really late
There was a good shop in town that had a lot of import games and my parents bought a lot from them.
I think i was like 3-4 years old as we finished our first englisch RPG with a dictionary.
If i think about that today i think it was pretty insane...Games at that time weren't tubular like they are today or haven't shown the destination with a "X" on the map...
You could waste a lot of time in them with finding the next destination you had to travel to...
Oh find a cave somewhere on the map > Leave town > big ass worldmap > have fun with searching if you don't understand the game completely.
But yeah over the years my parents and me learned english. We were able to finish every RPG without any problems.
School was pretty easy...I was on a complete different level as we got English as 2nd language.Think i never had to learn anything there and finished every test with 90-100%.
In that time i started to learn Japanese cause i didn't want to waste time and in the PS1/PS2 Era there were a lot of games i wanted to play...Today im fluent in 3 useful languages.
All thanks to games and Anime.
