There's this place called the world... :)
It's pretty simple really. 360 outsells PS3 some markets (particuarly US), PS3 outsells 360 others (particularly Japan). 360 sells more at some times of the year (particularly end of year in US), PS3 others (most of the rest of the year).
Balanced out the PS3 has on average outsold the 360 by a small mount and hence has crept closer to overtaking it year on year (smoothing out the peaks/spikes when 360 jumps ahead a bit or PS3 closes the gap more than average).
Looking at current trends I reckon they're going to be essentially tied when the next consoles launch - or PS3 might sneak past a bit but I doubt by much. Or 360 might keep its nose ahead depending on how the next rounds of price cutting and big titles even out between the two.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
