Spoken like a true Xbox fanboy. You say it doesn't matter because it will only keep decreasing until the PS3 is the one in the lead.
Sales between PS3 and 360 really do matter. If you don't care about sales when they are almost neck and neck, then what do you care about? When 1 console is completely dominating then its BORING. The PS3 was called "DOA" by many and to see it outsell the 360, no matter when it happens, will be an impressive feat.

I will be keeping an eye on both current-gen and next-gen sales.
I have a feeling that the PS4 will have a huge advantage if it launches in the same year as the 720.

I'm a PS fanboy, not an Xbox fanboy!!! And for me the gap doesn't really matter anymore. It was different 2008 when the gap was much bigger, but a 2-3 millions gap doesn't make a big difference not matter who's "first".
