So everyone says Nintendo needs to embrace iOS and Android. I actually agree but not in the sense everyone else is saying. I see iOS and Android as perfect advertising platforms ones that could be used to help Nintendo strengthen their hardware and software sales. What kind of software am I talking about? None other then the My Nintendo App which Nintendo would make available on all mobile devices possible.
The basic functionality I want to see in this app is the My Nintendo page. Your logged in you can take surveys you can detested products you can get points and then you can order rewards. Nintendo could place a QR code on the back of every registration card it could be scanned and registered just like that. The app could be found on 3DS and WiiU as well allowing gamers to update their accounts anywhere and with almost any mobile device.
Then the app would feature the Nintendo shows the 3DS show in 2D and the Wii one. Plus access to upcoming game trailers thus giving all customers access to the latest Nintendo video content where ever they are. Nintendo might even award you with one point for every Nintendo show you watch this encouraging gamers to view the latest videos. Of course Reggie and Iwata could address the entire Nintendo user base within minutes across all devices
A little more ambitious and not as likely the software side of things broken into two parts
The ability to purchase eShop software from any device as we already know Nintendo is making available. Nintendo can now allow gamers who see a trailer on My Nintendo channel and simply press buy and purchase the game which is automatically downloaded to the registered system of choice. With parental controls a parent account could see what their child is playing on their system. The mother could then send a text or even video message to their WiiU system telling their child to do their homework or stop playing the violent video game. The parent could then change the game in the system (If they have downloaded games on the HDD ). Or the parent might lock the hardware set it to turn off for two hours or set it on a clock.
The last and most ambitious would be some games playable if they are purchased on 3DS. So maybe you purchase Donkey Kong Country 5 on WiiU. A Donkey Kong game maybe three to four levels long made by a mobile developer can be downloaded for free from My Nintendo as a purchase bonus. This way Nintendo is able to use the mobile market to promote its console market. The game available on the phone would be just a small game to pass the time and keep Nintendo consumers happy.
I know this App would cost a fortune to make, but a My Nintendo app in conjunction with Nintendo's new network would rock the mobile world and Nintendo. Keep in mind Microsoft has a Live app on WP7 and I think Sony has a similar PSN app on their phones. But Nintendo's app could be available on every smart phone, tablet and heck even on PC/Mac/Chrome. Nintendo could use almost every mobile device. Rather then Nintendo letting Apple or Google or Microsoft/Sony hurt their sales why not use them to boost your own hardware and software sales.
