Nintendo's model still works. Mario Kart and Mario 3D Land are still selling 100k a month six months after launch. I don't see any reason to change it. As long as they launch hardware at a price that isn't too steep, they'll continue to be fine. I don't care for free-to-play or episodic releases. I want to buy a game for $40 or $60 and then be able to enjoy it to the fullest. If DLC comes out later than enhances the game, like for the new Fire Emblem, that's fine. But that's irrelevant because it's purely optional.
