A lot of that is your opinion, not fact. You thinking it looks nicer just proves that is your preference. Some find the larger version off putting, because that is their preference.
And getting more systems has nothing to do with size. Consumers in general have learned that a long time ago. Otherwize, Compact cars would not have caught on.
As for overheating, it doesn't work that way. The slim PS2 uses chips that don't generate as much energy, so the cooling system doesn't have to be as large. So it doesn't overheat anymore than the large PS2.
That doesn't mean the slim is better. It just means you haven't proved the large one is.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
