Untrue, except for Hard drive size, which was surpassed by the 80 GB, the 60 GB NTSC version of the PS3 was the one with the most features, since then the others have been stripped of various thngs

*sigh*

he said they are dropping functionality, not just hardware.

since launch they have removed:

ps2 bc

2 usb ports

memory card reader.

now, they have added since then:

blu-ray 1.1, divx functionality, ds3 support, dvd/ps1 and ps2 upscaling, remote play functionality, improved image quality (rgb full, super white hdmi), media sharing/streaming, this could go on, but the rest i feel are minor.

i dont know about you but to me it seems they have made the ps3 ALOT more functional than not.

Only add that if they drop the 80 GB sku ps2 upscaling will become a rather funny functionality to have, as you won't be able to play ps2 games. And this brings me back to my better/worse customer arguement.

Not to mention as well that when we talk about the ps3's functionality I am talking only about the gaming aspects since, according to me at least, the ps3 is a gaming console, not an overhauled hd player. As such i would think that removing BC for over 1000 games pretty much nullifies any added functions as such. To each his own i guess.

the ps3 is a gaming console 100% though. it serves its primary purpose and its sole functionality, which is play ps3 games, hence the name of the console. the person i was rebutting seemed to have the idea that sony have removed more features than adding, he was clearly wrong. no matter how big bc is.
