If you're just looking for raw speed, of course. Consoles provide a better experience without setup and choosing parts and driver issues et cetera. Also provides some unique games that rely on the controller.

(or did - I miss those days where you put a disc in and the game just starts, now it's this Wii Menu and Xbox Live BS)

I don't mind there being a main menu as such though, as long as it is easy to get through (Wii menu being two button presses to get to my game) but if I do buy the Wii U or whichever next-gen console... I suspect I am going to miss being able to buy my game complete and bug free from the store, instead of waiting a week till they patch the crap out of it and charge us extra to see the ending.
