haha Mass Effect on 360 outselling Mass Effect 3 on PS3 this week in the US ?
funny stuff.

It's the millons of PS3 Mass Effect fans having to go out an finally by ME1 and play it on their friend's 360, obviously.

I wonder if it's people diving in with ME3 and realizing they're probably not going to get the best experience.  I've played through since ME1 but just to see what it was like I started an ME3 game from scratch without importing a character, and while I only played a bit it seemed obvious that the game assumes you screwed up everything in ME1 and ME2 - unless it was just me it looked like one long run of downer results of losing crew or making bad choices earlier was about to decend on my poor ME1 and ME2

The other thing I find interesting about the sales 360 to PS3 is, looking at the general ratio split of multi-plat titles these days, the sheer amount of sales Bioware probably missed out on by being exclusive.

Unless you're getting serious incentives I'll never understand why developers simply leave money on the table like this.  I can get smaller developers supporting one platform at a time, like the team behind Limbo releasing on 360, then PS3 then PC.  But for a game like Mass Effect it just seems a poor choice.  I mean EA pushed hard to get the franchise started on PS3 and are probably fine with what sales they've salvaged, but still - a lot of lost sales I suspect.

One thing I have decided though, while I do like importing a character right through the story, games like this should always have an intro for new players to at least allow them a better start than the game seems to currently in terms of the story so far.  ME3 should really have another comic summarizing both ME and ME2.

It's clear Bioware put crappy choices in as the default for people not importing previous saves. They want you to play the first 2 games so giving default Shep a reasonable segue into the game isn't going to encourage that.
