Ubisoft's launch title Red Steel, a FPS, had sold one million units (or very close to it) by March 2007. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition had sold over a million units by March 2008, thus easily exceeded Capcom's expectations of 420k for this timeframe. Wii owners don't buy certain genres: refuted. Financial incentive gone: refuted. Both games were released during the Wii's first year and thus established a base for future projects. One million in sales is financially viable or do you disagree? The financial incentive was undoubtedly there, but third parties at large refused to bring more of these games to the system. The Wii offered new possibilities for gaming and the market was welcoming the console and its games with open arms. By the end of 2007, the Wii had shipped about 20m consoles and 110m games. Financial and creative incentive hampered: refuted. Unless you insist that doing something that has not been done before limits creativity in game development. For your response, I'd like you to present proof that Wii owners did not buy certain genres, because you claimed that this is the case. Compile a list of third party games that should have sold, because they had big development budgets, good marketing budgets and also were quality products. The reason why I use these three qualifiers is because you made it sound like Wii owners rejected surefire hits. It's also worth pondering how the DS could receive quality third party support, because it was without a doubt a less capable machine than the Wii. If you don't respond to this post, it will count as submission. EDIT: Excerpt from Capcom's earnings report (March 2008):
"Furthermore, game titles for Wii, which is becoming more and more popular globally, “Resident Evil 4 Wii edition” and “Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles” shipped 1.3 million and 1.06 million units respectively, producing two million-seller titles."

It's not worth your time Kowenicki, Roi believes the moon landing was staged, that Aliens landed at Roswell and that Barack Obama was not born on the US soil........
PS : Funny thing is those publishers that gave the Wii the most support are those that will end the gen in the worth shape ( THQ, Ubisoft)
