you men (not a real question cause they did) ninty failed the Wii right! the Wii will always be known as the second most successful console that failed, and that's not for a lack of trying cause it was more successful then the PS2 at one point, and now it's just a gimmick as you've mentioned.

ninty didn't make Wii accessible to wherein that if developers could not make use of motion controls, they'd have another control type, and the classic controller doesn't count cause it was not in box at retail, so dev.'s couldn't souly commit to it.

it didn't help that after announcing the Wiiu they killed FP support, and that killed the system. there was no need for Wiiu, but there's no turning back now, and because of that PS3 and likely 360 have a high propensity to become the second biggest selling console of all time.

ignore the idea of closing gen.'s and all. it's about the console that sells the most, and that could have very well been the Wii. ninty failed, ninty dropped the ball, it's thier fault the system's a disappointment.

but ninty in thier infinite wisdom, have moved on, so (still not a real question) it doesn't matter anyway now does it. i enjoyed the Wii for what it was, so i can't truly say it failed. it was a success on all levels, except 3rd party.
