They can come out with a console that sells 15 million WW and it'll still probably have over 10 games that sell over 10 million. It's just the way it works with Nintendo, there like the MAC of gaming, if it says Mario, Wii, or any other popular Nintendo character or console in the title Nintendo fans will flock to it. But my point is as a leading console has it performed the way a leading gaming console generally perform? No Nintendo did there own thing. They stuck with there first party and everything went great for the first few years, but eventually the many big exciting games released on the X360 and PS3 and making it more enticing. So ya Nintendo dropped the ball, they relied to much on first party, which is fine, it pleases all the Nintendo fans, but as for all the other gamer's it kept them away. |
You are correct, the Wii didn't perform like a leading console. You also correctly note that third party support is the missing piece in the puzzle. But then you turn around and say that Nintendo dropped the ball. Why?
Third parties didn't make the games, so they dropped the ball.
You can talk about it being Nintendo's fault for not courting third parties all you want, but when third parties went on record numerous times to declare or imply that the Wii is not a real gaming machine, then it's clear that there was no way to convince them to make Wii games.

It is Nintendo's responsibility to get 3rd parties to make games for their console. The Wii is extremely under-powered, this is pretty much the only reason most of the big 3rd party games aren't on the system.
