well we have to be frank, what Sony is doing this gen is simple consumer shafting. They created a situation, where some part of the PS3 community is better than than the rest due to better HW. And i'm not exagerrating. Full BC and a lot of other extras for some and the rest can go bark up a tree. One of the stupidest business models yet if you ask me. This IS going to put off a lot of people in the long run.

Changing hardware over time (and in the process shafting some people, in a sense) is nothing new for the electronics industry. What's so irritating about the current situation with Sony is that they're doing it backwards: they're dropping functionality as they go along instead of adding it. In the past, we've been able to count on hardware being a little buggy, poorly featured, and overpriced at the start compared to later revisions, but as an early adopter you accepted that as the cost of getting it first. Now, if you want a particular feature you're expected to rush out and get it today, because it could be gone tomorrow. I don't think this strategy is doing anyone any favors.

how did you come to that conclusion? since the release of ps3, the features they have added to the ps3 have totally outstripped the features removed.

Untrue, except for Hard drive size, which was surpassed by the 80 GB, the 60 GB NTSC version of the PS3 was the one with the most features, since then the others have been stripped of various thngs
