People who claim that GA is a system seller makes me laugh!! hahahahahahah.

GA is the best selling PSV title by quite some margin at present, including being #2 in Japan where the Vita has been out for a few months, not mere weeks. At this early stage it's a very reasonable conclusion that GA is helping to sell the PSV. Or in other words PSV would be selling even worse than it is now if GA didn't exist. Ergo GA is a system seller. But because we're talking PSV you've got to modify your understanding of what "system seller" means.

In my world a sytem seller is a game that moves hardware, lots of hardware, not a game that has been benefiting from the lack of competition and still only manages to get inexpressive sales.

Monster Hunter was a system seller for a "dead" PSP. The same does not apply for GA.

But that's in my world.

Huh? PSP was never dead in the one market where MH is wildly popular: Japan. So, just because PSP was more or less dead everywhere else is irrelevant to MH.

It's relative, like most things in the real world. If a system is selling hundreds of thousands a week (like 3DS) then a system seller will push 10s of thousands of units per week. If a system is selling 10s of thousands of units per week then a system seller will push some thousands of units per week. A system seller is dependant on the general popularity of a device. Not many games are capable of causing an order of magnitude sustained increase in sales for a system. Even a MH4P on PSV in Japan wouldn't see PSV jump to PSP peak level sales. It's impossible to see any boosting effect from GA because it was a launch title. Arguably without GA PSVs launch week, esp in the west, could have been even worse than it actually was.

Ask yourself, would PSV have lower HW sales than it does today if GA didn't exist?

If yes => GA is a system seller

If no => GA is not a system seller

I think PSV sales would be lower than they are without GA. Ergo I think GA is a system seller.

Like I said, for PSV you've got to adjust your normal conception of what's a system seller. Not the principle, but the size of the effect.

Will MH (in Japan) be a much better system seller than GA? Yes, obvioulsy. But that does not prove GA didn't help sell a measurable proportion of systems.

Finally given the tie ration of GA to PSVs it's almost undeniable that GA was the reason many (but not all) of those people bought a PSV, and if GA was not yet out those people would not [perhaps yet] have bought a PSV.
