I don't know if anyone remembers the multiplayer in UYA, but that was a ton of fun (and I hear it's coming in the R&C collection too). It doesn't have to be the main focus, or a CoD killer, but just something simple like what we saw in UYA could have helped a lot. LBP also appeals to people who love to build things. Some of the levels that people created are incredible. R&C doesn't have that. It's appeal for (relatively) older people is the humour and guns. And eye candy. The games look great. But I do think that a lot of people look at the series and just sort of assume it's for kids. |
I don't know what you mean by "I hate to say it" but I'd love a multiplayer mode. I think the unique weapons / gadgets, the fluid controls, and the fast-paced gameplay combined with some creative maps & modes could make for an intensely enjoyable experience. It wouldn't catch on like Call of Duty like Halo, but it could pull a Uncharted 2 and have a surprisingly popular online. You never know. I think it would have definitely helped more than it would have harmed the game.
Too bad that may never come to reality though; Looks like Insomniac have went multiplat, at least for a while. (I know they said they would still make Sony exclusives, but after R3 & A4O's sales, I don't think they'll be returning to those franchise for a while).
Yeah, I agree with what you say about LBP. Sort of makes me think of a 3D LBP.
