New features are fine, however, in my opinion, if this Metro abomination will stay mandatory in any way, shape or form on desktops and laptops, then this system will fail. Mostly due to internet backlash.
And yes, I've tested W8. Deleted VM with it after 15 minutes, I just couldn't stand looking at this new "start menu".
It looks decent on handheld devices with touchscreen, but it just doesn't make sense on 24" HD display. Big boxes cluttering entire display space doesn't look appealing when you can just have, you know , regular icons.

When I was a kid a lot of my friends had older brothers who kept saying the same things about Windows 3.1. It being an abomination... They were part of the DOS 4 Life crowd. And we see how that turned out.

At the time, MS pretty much stole desktop UI from Mac and it worked for decades. Now when they're trying to be innovative....well, it looks like an attempt to cash-in a quick buck because supporting one, and only one system for more than 3 years is just not profitable enough. Or it's just plain fixing something that isn't broken at all. For that kind of change to make sense, we'd need to see other OSes (various Linux distros, OS X) start using Metro-esque interface sometime later (if it's the real and only way to move forward). At this moment, I consider Metro UI a Love-it-or-hate-it gimmick.
Windows 7 will be supported till 2020 at least, there's no need to hurry with moving (unless Win8 will have exclusive directX 12 support or something like that, as it was with 10 and vista).

2 HUGE reasons why I couldnt return to Windows 7.
Snap Multitasking. This is somthing I now do all the time, and have wondered how the hell I worked without it before. Using a Mac or a PC without it is really painful.
Speed. Same laptop, yet seems like I added 4gb ram and 2 extra CPu's. I dont wait for load screens and dont have any freezing issues. Instant everything. Right now I have 14 apps open 2 seperate IE's and am playing music. Windows 8 tells me I'm using 11% of my dual ore Pentium 2.4ghz. And 44% of my 4gb ram. And I'm snap multitasking all at once. This OS is unbelieveable. MY previous version of Win 7 only dreams of running lke this.
