I hope it doesn't. Otherwise MS will get the idea that we (as a whole) like Windows 8 and we'll be forever stuck with this ugly excuse of an interface.
New features are fine, however, in my opinion, if this Metro abomination will stay mandatory in any way, shape or form on desktops and laptops, then this system will fail. Mostly due to internet backlash.
And yes, I've tested W8. Deleted VM with it after 15 minutes, I just couldn't stand looking at this new "start menu".
It looks decent on handheld devices with touchscreen, but it just doesn't make sense on 24" HD display. Big boxes cluttering entire display space don't look appealing when you can just have, you know , regular, small icons.
