The OS is not their major problem as its a very solid OS for your average smartphone consumer these days. They have to improve the following things: 1. App store - get more of the popular apps and get them faster, not 3 months after they hit iphone/android. Also they have to allow in app purchases, which they currently don't. 2. OEM relationships - They have to allow OEMs to have input when it comes to customizing their features in to the OS while not allowing for fragmentation. Microsoft has to support these phones with updates and they can't allow OEMs to go crazy with customization but still allow them to "differentiate" themselves. This is a very challenging task... 3. Carrier relationships - They have to convince carreirs to invest in WP platform by offering choice. AT&T aside, other carriers in North America don't have many compelling Windows Phone devices. 4. Target the business market - Don't worry about iOS and Android for now, but go and kill blackberry first.Their email client and keyboard on Windows Phone is better than any other mobile platform. |
