PC gaming doesn't have generations, just graphics card replacements.

i would say it has. sure every 18 month or so we get new gpu's but the next big graphical jump on  pc will come with the next consoles. most differences between pc and console games are higher res, better lightning and so on but the levels itself look the same (same amount of interior in a buidling for example)

when the next gen console games come out, we will see much bigger jump for pc games as well because battlefield 4 on console will be a big jump to 3, it will be a big jump on pc as well which wouldn't be the case without new consoles^^

As I said...graphics cards.

It's really much the same with consoles. New graphics cards, new cpus. What was so new about PS3 except the power?

Consoles are held back to nearly a decade and it is pushed to the limit with creativity. If we were to think of similar things I would put it up with a rich culture. PC can get multiplats, but who holds the flag for it? How many do for such generations? Consoles were inferior to arcades and people used to tall down to it, but no one will ever forget the genesis or the SNES. As limited as they are, they are the wealth. Generations are not to be represented by how powerful a console is, but rather by what you can do with the console and the variations in games. I'd take a decade of great games and amazing stories over yearly upgrades just so I can orgasm over how amazing the graphics are.
