1) It doesn't mean that people should only buy Nintendo handhelds. It only means that Nintendo will sell more systems, because they are the better choice for more people. 2) But isn't the purpose of Golden Abyss to sell the PSV? Yet a couple of weeks after launch it's already being outsold by a four months old game on a weekly basis. The lack of Vita sales seems to be due to Uncharted being the wrong type of game for a handheld. Lastly, good legs usually develop for games that are commonly picked up with new console purchases, so Uncharted 3 apparently does a better job at selling PS3s than Golden Abyss does for the Vita. So your counterpoint that Uncharted 3 greatly benefits from the PS3's bigger installed base doesn't hold as much merit as you think. 3) Looks like you win this point. 4) Sure, but what's the better deal for a Wii only owner; a PS3 or a PSV? It's not even a contest. |
1. But sales aren't what were being discussed. He said that the 3DS was the better choice over Vita since it has stronger IPs. The core market which is what Sony is aiming for, doesn't give a crap about Mario games.
2. Uncharted Golden Abyss is the best selling PSV game every week. PSV software sales are so low that you just don't notice it all the way at #55 in the global chart. People are still playing the games they picked up at launch for their Vita. You can't expect PSV software to be on top of PS3 or Xbox 360 software. when its only has an install base of 1.6m.
4. It depends on what games you're looking for. PS3 obviously has more.
