It seems kind of silly and joke-ish if Nintendo is seeking out MySpace to build a service for them with how small of a player MySpace has become, but if you look at it as MySpace seeking out Nintendo to build a service it doesn't seem that silly. MySpace needs to do something drastic to become competitive or they will die, and trying to build services that are integrated into gaming consoles (allowing them to become meaningful in hundreds of millions of households) doesn't seem that unbelieveable. |
That's the point though. MySpace is dead and needs cash. Nintendo has no real social system for its gamers and to have a 'real' social network with tons of features and interactivity, Nintendo would not only match Live/PSN it would surpass them on capabilities. All without having to code/create the network themselves, but simply copy/paste and then tweak to fit Nintendo's needs.
Same reason Apple bought the Siri company and Google the Android company. Its easier and many times more cost effective to buy the established company/code than it is to build new.
